Who We Are

SWAN is the industry body comprised of businesses involved in the manufacturing, importation, distribution and marketing of spirits, wines and other forms of alcohol in Nigeria.

Vision

Vision of SWAN is to be recognized for its commitment to sanitizing the alcohol market in Nigeria while promoting best practices and high ethical standards.

Mission

To support its members in all non-competitive spheres of the industry and promote the best interests of its members on issues of common interest while positively impacting on the economy and society at large.

Aims

  • To raise and promote an understanding of the spirits and wines industry to decision makers and other key stakeholders in Nigeria.
  • To provide industry collaboration to drive and influence an appropriate enabling environment for spirits and wines producers and marketers in Nigeria.
  • To promote the development of the spirits and wines market in Nigeria and to take appropriate actions to respond to commercial problems with overseas countries.

Objectives

  • To promote and advance the interests of the legal and law-abiding players in the spirits and wines industry in Nigeria.
  • Promoting responsible drinking.
  • Combatting illicit trade in the alcohol industry.
  • Championing balanced regulation of the industry.

Strategic Focus Areas

The mandate of SWAN is to provide support to its members in all non-competitive spheres of the alcohol industry. Our key focus areas are:

TAXATION

SWAN articulates the positions of the industry on issues of taxation that impact our members and the industry in general. Our positions are guided by our commitment to protect government revenue as well as the sustainability of the industry.
REGULATION

SWAN is the voice of the Spirits and Wines industry on issues around regulation. SWAN consults with regulators and other stakeholders around issues concerning the regulation of the industry and strives to ensure that a coordinated whole-of-society approach is adopted in the development of policy recommendations and regulation should aim to bring benefits from both health and economic perspectives.
ILLICIT TRADE

SWAN is committed to combating illicit trade in alcohol products and is committed to championing cooperation between the industry and government in this regard. Illicit trade remains a major challenge for society in the form of organized crime with many victims including the government, the consumers and the industry.
